Reno really is the “Biggest Littlest City”. So, getting around is easy.

To get your bearings, understand that:

• Sparks is east of Reno
• Verdi and Truckee are west of Reno
• The I395/I595 runs north/south
• The I80 runs east/west
• McCarren makes a giant loop around Reno and Sparks
• The Spaghetti Bowl is where all the freeways converge
• A new road called Veterans Parkway connects Sparks to South Reno

Truckee River

Reno is a haven for outdoor recreation. The Truckee River runs right through the downtown. There are many river-based events to keep you busy along with a Riverwalk and plenty of green park space for picnics and lazy days. Fly fish, Kayak, White-water raft or tube down the Truckee on any given summer day.
